BCS Scholars Learn and Showcase Artistic Talent Arts During Black History Month Observance


Students throughout Birmingham City Schools reflected on their rich heritage and performed on stages in observance of Black History Month.


Choirs from BCS high schools, as well as Hudson K-8 presented a Festival of Spirituals at 16th Street Baptist Church.


Theatre departments at Ramsay High School and at Huffman presented full shows to present historical narrative and original creative works.


In lower grades, several elementary and middle schools captured moments in history and reflected on their culture with special programs.

These events were just part of the teaching, learning, and presentation opportunities that happen throughout the year in Birmingham City Schools.
