Today during a luncheon hosted at B&A Warehouse, Birmingham City Schools and city leaders recognized the district's top graduating scholars.

The attendees were greeted by Jason Meadows, President of the Birmingham Board of Education and representative for District 9. Following a speech from Galvin Billups, Director for the Division of Youth Services for the City of Birmingham (appearing on behalf of Mayor Randall Woodfin), Walt Wilson, Birmingham Board of Education representative for District 7, delivered the innovation.

After lunch was served, Dr. Taqua Lewis, Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling for Birmingham City Schools, introduced the honored scholars. Next, Dr. Mark Sullivan, Superintendent of Birmingham City Schools, gave a special presentation on the charge to learn, followed by Pastor Steve Green, Sr., Senior Pastor of More Than Conquerors Church, addressed the students on the charge to lead. Dr. Lewis returned to the podium to close the program.
