Congratulations to Ramsay IB High School scholar Nia Hall, who was recently highlighted in the Birmingham Education Foundation's Executive Intern Spotlight. She was placed at Prosper, and is interested in pursuing a career in psychology. Her biggest passions outside work are spending quality time with others and laughing.

Avondale nurse Angela Armstrong was recently recognized for going Above and Beyond at Avondale Elementary. Her nominator said:

Nurse Armstrong is first and foremost an excellent school nurse and has been with us through thick and thin as we have navigated through the pandemic. She does things by the book, but also works with such compassion and competence that students and parents alike trust her and feel cared for. Beyond that, she has become an integral part of our school culture, volunteering on our PBIS committee and organizing after-school social outings for staff. Perhaps most impressive is how Nurse Armstrong has coordinated the COVID testing at Avondale, where over 2/3 of the students get tested weekly. Nurse Armstrong is well organized and gives tireless dedication.

Congrats to Mirakle Howard, South Hampton K-8 scholar, who was recently highlighted in Ed Farm's Student Fellow Spotlight. Mirakle paves the way for student ownership of innovative technology. She embodies the Student Fellows value of being an effective communicator.

Congratulations to Oxmoor Valley technology teacher Karita Sullen on Going Above and Beyond for January. Ms. Sullen extends her services beyond school hours and has created a coding club to help students develop digital skills. She also has implemented a STEAM Day where invited companies come and volunteer and host small group sessions with students. She has provided professional development opportunities for staff and parents and has passed her skills on to her students to embrace the tech world.

Join us in celebrating our new National Board Certified Teachers, and also recognizing the committed teachers that maintained their certifications. Congratulations teachers!
