Huffman Middle School participated in the Oratorical Contest hosted by the Optimistic Club of Birmingham West End hosted on Sat., March 11, 2023 at 10 a.m. Students from middle schools in BCS had the opportunity to write an essay about "Defining the Optimism In Me," and presented the essays by speaking 4-5 minutes to an audience of other students, parents, teachers, administrators, members of the Optimistic Club, & judges. There were several participants throughout the city of Birmingham. Huffman Middle School submitted 6 essays, and three students placed. They were judged based on their writing and speaking skills.
The following students placed and received a monetary gift card and medal award: 1st Place- Isaiah Hendley- 8th Grader. $150 2nd Place- Gabrielle Burkes-8th Grader $100 3rd Place- Natalia Hicks-8th Grader $50
The 1st place winner will have the opportunity to participate in the next level on March 18, 2023.
