Scholars from across the district competed in the BCS 2023 District Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 19, 2023. These students were the winners of their schools' individual spelling bees, and each student gave their all on the G. W. Carver auditorium stage. Before the competition began, Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan provided words of encouragement. Everyone displayed their spelling skills, and at one point, no students misspelled words for almost 7 rounds in a row! Ultimately, 3 scholars came out on top:
1st Place:
Makenzie McTerry -- Wilkerson Middle School
2nd Place:
Jacari Wells -- Huffman Middle School
3rd Place:
Ariana Moore -- Huffman Academy
